An Air Force Reserve colonel may face criminal charges for allegedly vandalizing cars bearing pro-Bush bumper stickers at Denver International Airport.

Lt. Col. Alexis Fecteau, director of operations for reserve forces at the National Security Space Institute in Colorado Springs, is believed responsible for defacing at least 10 vehicles parked at the airport between December and June.

Police peg Fecteau after he defaced a bait car left by a police detective. He turned himself in Friday and was released on bond.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson says Fecteau is suspected of blacking out Bush bumper stickers and spray painting an expletive and the president's name on the cars.

According to base spokesman Staff Sgt. Donald Branum, Fecteau supervises 11 full-time and 30 part-time reservists at the institute, which is part of the Space Warfare Center at Schriever Air Force Base.

The bait vehicle was mounted with a camera that captured an image of the suspect, as well as his car. A detective then used footage from a camera monitoring cars leaving the parking lot to trace Fecteau, using his license plate.

Police refer the case to prosecutors, who are considering filing criminal charges.
