A 16-year-old girl from Colorado with a defective eye and nearly blind has improved her vision after undergoing an experimental stem cell treatment in China.
Macie Morse, who was born with optic nerve hypoplasia or underdevelopment of the optic nerve, was injected with umbilical cord stem cells that grew her optic nerve in six weeks.
"I saw snow fall for the first time," said Morse, according to CBS News.
The sophomore of Poudre High School also is learning to drive.
Morse's previous vision grade was 20/4,000 meaning she could see things from 20 feet what others could see from 4,000 feet. Now she has 20/80 vision in one eye and 20/400 in the other.
