A 70-year-old Colombian woman weighing 35 stones (490 pounds) needed the help of 70 firemen and Red Cross workers to move her from her home to a local hospital.
Cementina Ortiz de Blanco has a medical condition that causes her body to retain liquids in enormous volumes, which is packing on the pounds. She is only able to move her arms and neck.
In a 4-hour long rescue operation, two walls and one door had to be knocked down using saws and drills.
Describing the mission, Cucuta Fire Department Lieutenant David Monzalve said, "We are making a path which we will use to transport the stretcher. Later we will attach it to a forklift so it can be taken to the main road where she will be transported in the volunteer firemen rescue vehicle," according to The Daily Mail.
Rios, who was lying on a stretcher, was carefully lifted by a forklift and placed in a truck, which took her to another vehicle, which eventually transported her to the hospital.
In the last six months alone, Rios has put on over 12 stones (168 pounds) and is suffering from breathing problems and a heart condition.
The pensioner was taken to hospital to receive treatment for renal deficiency.
