Ice cream maker Good Humor has partnered with pet food producer Pedigree to produce ice cream sandwiches for dogs.

The Pedigree Ice Cream Sandwich Treats for Dogs will be dairy-based with the same texture as ice cream, but only 1 percent lactose because many pooches are lactose intolerant.

The sandwich treats will have additional protein and no sugar. It will be retailed for $3.99 for a 24 frozen treats package.

Good Humor is managed by Green Bay-based Unilever North American Ice Cream. It is the country's biggest maker of branded ice cream and frozen novelties. Pedigree is the best-selling brand of dog food in the world.
