Smokers in Glasgow who were trying to kick the habit have been mistakenly prescribed Viagra because of a computer error. According to a report by the BBC, the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said the error was caused by a computer "misreading" the prescription given to patients.

A private school in Scotland is trying to save the dying art of penmanship by requiring that all its students write with fountain pens. The school's headmaster fears writing longhand will soon be a mere memory due to computers and text messaging, and he's doing what he can to keep it alive.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth is planning on cutting down costs at Buckingham Palace. The monarch is said to be firing the Palace's night phone operator and diverting calls to Windsor Castle's fire surveillance room instead. The queen employs an operator to work between 10 pm and 8 am to take important phone calls regarding urgent matters of state business with a salary of $25,000 a year.

The pen may be mightier then the sword, but it apparently is not mightier then the computer keyboard, reports the Washington Post. The newspaper reports that when handwritten essays were introduced on the 2006 SAT exams, less then 15 percent of the 1. 5 million students wrote their answers in cursive. The rest printed, in block letters.

A 91-year-old man finished his law degree from an Australian university more than a year earlier, saying that, "time is of the essence. " Allan Stewart was given a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England in eastern Australia. The degree takes six years to finish but he did it in 4 1/2.
