Pepsi has been fined more than 100,000 rupees in compensation by a city consumer court, after a man found a condom in his sealed bottle of the softdrink.

The Press Trust of India reports a consumer group spokesperson as stating, "This case is an eye-opener for others who are engaged in manufacturing soft dirinks and are required to mantain the prescribed standards of purity in pulblic interest during the course of their business."

The man who reported the complaint began suffering from severe dyspepsia and headache as well as insomnia after drinking from the bottle.
