A one-year-old Persian cat with long black hair, was given two gold fangs that were sticking out from his lips similar to an underbite of a bulldog. David Steele, the dentist owner of the cat said he gave his cat named Sebastian the gold crowns to strengthen the feline's teeth.

Every summer, Metro-North Railroad hires 25 student interns to serve as "air conditioner inspectors. " Their job is to ride the trains and make sure everything is comfortable for the thousands who take the train each day.

To combat the persistent heat wave in Zurich, animals in the zoo are fed a diet of frozen berries, meat and bones to help them stay cool. The "alternative ice cream" offered to animals instead of their usual diet has proved successful with large cats, apes and wolves, reports Reuters news agency.

The 2006 update of the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary adds mouse potatoes, googling and himbo, among 100 new words. The mouse potato is defined as someone who spends as much time on the computer as a coach potato does on the sofa.
