Disgraced investment manager Bernie Madoff's tickets to the New York Mets season opening home game were sold on eBay for $7,500.
Sale of the tickets was done by the court trustee after being approved by the U.S. bankruptcy court controlling assets of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
There was a bidding war that resulted in 68 bids coming in for the tickets that have a face value of $525.
Madoff originally had Delta Club Platinum season tickets, but team officials agreed to refund most of the value of those tickets and swap them for less valuable tickets with the agreement they would also put in an opening bid of half the face value of the tickets at auction.
Madoff entered a guilty plea in march to defrauding investors in a $65 billion Ponzi scheme. His assets are being liquidated, but observers don't expect investors to ever recoup all the money they lost.
