A 70-year-old Colombian woman weighing 35 stones (490 pounds) needed the help of 70 firemen and Red Cross workers to move her from her home to a local hospital. Cementina Ortiz de Blanco has a medical condition that causes her body to retain liquids in enormous volumes, which is packing on the pounds. She is only able to move her arms and neck.

The chief of police of the city of Lansing, Michigan has begun stockpiling chainsaws in preparation for possible zombie attacks. With Halloween approaching the city is not taking any chances. "We have been doing mock disasters and cross training for several years," said Police lieutenant Bruce Ferguson stressing his police team is ready for any attack on their city.

A heroic cat helped its owner escape a fire that erupted in his Clearwater Fla. mobile home, but could not make itself out of the flames. According to investigators, the cat woke its owner at the Capri Mobile Home Park, and alerted him to the flames engulfing the home around 3 a. m. Monday.

An international body exhibition touring Melbourne has been struck by the theft of one of its body parts - an ankle. The part was allegedly stolen from an educational display called "The Amazing Human Body" showing how the body works through cross sections of real body parts. A disappointed event organizer Paul Liu told reporters, "This has never happened in any part of the world the exhibition has toured and we urge the person responsible to come forward and return the missing body part. "
