An 18-year-old Egyptian was presumed drowned after jumping from a Cairo, Egypt bridge into the Nile River on Thursday because his fiancé had refused to talk to him.

After leaving her to wait, Walid, the young man, arrived late to meet his fiancé, but the girl, 18, was very upset with him for being late and she refused to speak to him, Al Masry Al Youm daily newspaper reported.

He threatened her that he would throw himself off the bridge and into the river Nile if she didn't talk. Then, when she still didn't speak, he climbed over the bridge's wall and threw himself off.

The man's body has not been found yet, the newspaper reported.
