A Florida sheriff's deputy is unexpectedly intercepted by a bear while pursuing a prowler. In response he shocked the animal with his Taser gun.
A Milton, Florida homeowner called Santa Rosa County deputies Tuesday night after finding her air conditioner torn from her kitchen window.
Deputy Ray Dykes thought he was looking for a prowler, until some kind of animal eyes came into view.
At first, it looked like a little cub. But when it stood up, Dykes realized it was a full-grown bear.
He used his Taser gun when the bear got too close, administering a strong electrical charge.
The bear fell to the ground, then fled into the woods.
Black bears are protected by Florida law.
