Egyptian border guards have unearthed approximately 500 kilograms of TNT near the border with the Gaza Strip, officials said. According to the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity, the TNT was hidden in 10 sacks near the Rafah border crossing.

Some of the earliest and most important paintings of the Western Desert art movement were stolen from the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory on Tuesday. Seven pieces of aboriginal paintings, valued at more than $460,000, were recovered hours later after the thief apparently changed his mind and dumped them in a park, police said.

Randy Thornton's swimming adventure earlier this month was skewed after one of his fellow swimmers, a humpback whale, flipped its tail. The 50-year-old diver had to be hospitalized for a broken femur at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center in Sandy. The incident happened on March 1 during an excursion trip in the Dominican Republic. Thornton and 17 other divers were on the last dive of the last day of their weeklong trip to the reefs called the Silver Banks, an area where divers are allowed to swim with humpback whales.

Los Angeles County is known for having the stinkiest sludge in America. Virginia Tech environmental engineer John Novak says the sludge from that county in California has the "worst odor of any I have ever tested. " "This county can haul its sludge hundreds of miles into the desert, and it still gets complaints," Novak said, according to a press release by Newswise.
