Camel breeders in the Indian state of Rajasthan have found an alternative way to tackle the declining fortunes from tourism. Citing the low-calorie content in the milk from the desert animal, a non-government organization has launched a project under which camel's milk is marketed to hotels and tourists visiting historic palaces and desert towns. The Food and Agriculture Organization says camel milk has vitamin C content three times higher than cow's milk. It is also rich in iron, unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin B.

Stanford and Carnegie Mellon University will battle it out again in November to see whose robots are smarter. The two, among nine other competitors, will participate in a Pentagon-sponsored race using cars operated solely by robots. But this year the stakes are higher and the track is tougher.

Pranksters release two live snakes during a showing of "Snakes on a Plane" in a Phoenix, Arizona theater. AMC Entertainment Inc. spokeswoman Melanie Bell says two diamondback rattlesnakes were set loose during the movie, which is about deadly snakes terrorizing passengers on a plane. She tells Reuters, "One was found in the parking lot during the show, and the other in the movie theater. They were both removed, and no one was harmed. "

The Army has begun destroying thousands of containers of mustard gas being held in a storage facility in the Utah desert. The containers are being drained and incinerated. The project will last six to ten years and involves burning about 6,200 tons of liquid blister agent. An estimated 800 pounds of toxic mercury is also present making the job even more difficult.

A runner plans to participate in one marathon per day for 50 consecutive days. Dean Karnazes says he's not crazy for committing to run a total of 1,310 miles in less than two months. The 43-year-old is one of the world's best ultramarathoners. He once ran 350 miles without stopping. He also ran a marathon to the South Pole, and ran across the California desert during the summer.
