A man from Clinton Township, Michigan spent 30 years of his life and some $60,000 working on his dream, his own flying saucer. The 57-year-old Alfie Carrington, who knows nothing about computers, says he just want to replace automobile with a Jetsons-style vehicle, and not actually take his creation into outer space. Carrington told the Detroit Free Press, "Why drive when you can fly 500mph?"

Dominant appliance manufacturer Electrolux said it has developed a shoes that can help out with the housework. The "Dustmate," is a new pair of shoes that vacuum as you walk, the company said. According to the inventor, the shoes are made of green nylon with a flexible rubber sole and elastic sock to fit any foot. It says the shoes are comfortable to wear.

Australia's largest wine producer has unveiled its new product, an all-in-one wine bottle with an attached wine "glass" made out of acrylic. The "Shuttle" wine bottle is sealed with a detachable securely sealed acrylic wine glass, which comes upside down over the bottle. The detachment of the "glass" from the bottle is simple in that it twists right off to release it.

Over one hundred Elvis impersonators have taken part in a "walk" on a plane event to raise money for charity. Some 109 Elvis crooners performed at Gatwick Airport in London, England to create a new world record. They have also set a new world record for the largest number of Elvis impersonators in one place.

Jaguar's chief designer Ian Callum has revealed that British actress Kate Winslet's body is the inspiration of Jaguar's new sports car, XK. Winslet told talk host show Jay Leno that he had "Decided that I, for whatever reason, was his ideal woman. So I guess he was inspired by the shape of my body, which is kind of flattering. "
