Man Tries To Auction Amputated Leg
A man from New Zealand who had his right leg amputated because of diabetes is attempting to sell it to raise money for his daughter who has inherited the disease. Shane Torrence, 42, stored his tattooed leg in his freezer for 15 months before he decided to put it up for sale on the online auction Web site Trade Me. But the Web site said it was "distasteful" and withdrew it.

Maximiliano Arellano, from Mexico City, is a child prodigy who according to reports has already been has been studying medicine on his own.
Woman Gives Birth To 15-Pound Baby
A Colombian woman gives birth to a 15-pound baby, the largest in 40 years in Madrid's main maternity hospital. The 38-year-old, identified only as Rosario, has gestational diabetes, which has been known to cause women to give birth to unusually large babies. This streak, however, is not unique to Rosario, as her first daughter, now nine, was born weighing in at 10.2 pounds.
62-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth
A 62-year-old California woman has successfully given birth to a baby boy. Janise Wulf will probably have plenty of babysitting help -- she's got 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her oldest child is 40. Family members say Friday's delivery went smoothly, despite health concerns involving Wulf, who has diabetes and has been blind since birth.
British Pets Gain Weight During Holidays
People aren't the only ones making New Year's resolutions to lose a few pounds. According to veterinarians and pet owners in Britain, 33 percent of pets were considered to be overweight and 38 percent of pet owners says their animals put on weight during the Christmas holiday. Overweight pets can face a host of illnesses, like humans, including diabetes, arthritis and heart conditions, according to research released Friday.
