Police have arrested an elderly farmer after he fires a warning shot at a dog harassing his sheep. It took six police cars to arrest Frank Cook, 77, after he fired at a dog to keep it from harming his lambs, in an incident drawing criticism in what many call an exaggeration of police power.

Eiwa Industry Co. which mainly manufactures decorative metal fixtures for houses, has recently began selling pendants for preserving genetic mementos of the dead.

Miami police search for a suspected serial rapist who escaped from a Miami-Dade County jail. According to authorities, 34-year-old Reynaldo Rapalo and another inmate used bed sheets to climb down the roof of Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center about 9:30 p. m. Tuesday night.

Two investigators are saying they have obtained DNA from a cowboy who claimed to be Billy the Kid. Before his death in the 1930's, John Miller purportedly told friends and a son he was the legendary outlaw. Former Lincoln County Sheriff Tom Sullivan and Captain Mayor Steve Sederwall say they obtained the DNA last May from Miller's remains, which are buried in Prescott, Arizona.
