A surrogate mother in Belgium is under investigation for allegedly selling her baby girl over the internet for $24,000 to a Dutch couple. The baby, named Donna, was born in February. The surrogate mother had agreed to bear the baby for a Belgian couple for nearly $13,000.

Scientists at the National Zoo in Washington wanted to know if a newborn prehensile-tailed porcupine was a boy or a girl, since its sexual organs are internal, it was impossible to tell by looking. Because the sexual organs are internal, it can take up to six weeks before the gender can be determined using a method called anal palpation.

Brandon Fizer, 23, accidentally stuck his hand in a mixing machine and lopped off his right index finger at the knuckle. The fingertip ended up in a frozen pint of custard purchased by Clarence Stowers at Kohl's Frozen Custard in Wilmington.
