Several New York City residents pitched in Thursday to lift a five-ton bus off a dying pregnant woman, saving her unborn baby in the process. New York City Police Department traffic agent Donnette Sanz, 33, was crossing a Bronx street when a van struck her, knocking her into the path of a 10,000-pound school bus. She was run over and pinned under the bus.

Two babies in neighboring states have created a history by being born at 8:08 a. m. on the eighth day of August, weighing in at 8 pounds, 8 ounces. Hailey Jo Hauer is born to Lindsay Hauer via cesarean section that was scheduled for 8 a. m. Friday morning at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. According to doctors that is a "once in a million" case as this date will come only once in a hundred years.

A 12-year-old boy here was cured of a rare form of Parkinson's disease after taking drugs to treat the neurological and muscular disorder. Parkinson's expert Dr. Ali Rajput in Saskatchewan province prescribed Sinemet to Andrew Carnegie after diagnosing him with hemiparkinsonism-hemiatrophy syndrome (HSS) in May. The drug instantly eliminated symptoms of the disease and now the boy can move normally.

An 11-year-old boy survived after an alligator bit off his left arm while swimming in a pond here Wednesday, but doctors failed to re-attach the severed arm recovered later from the reptile. Devin Funck is in stable condition, Amiee Goforth, spokesman of Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, told Fox News Thursday.

At least one passenger was killed and more than 40 injured when a luxury cruise ship was swamped by mountainous seas as sub-tropical storm hit New Zealand. Metservice forecast that the heavy storm will hit the North Island's western and north parts as residents were asked to evacuate their homes.
