It's a dog's life for one rebellious retriever.
Murphy, a golden retriever, received a summons to appear in court in Newton. The court order came after a complaint that he was being walked without a leash and was not up to date on his license.
Steven Dean, Murphy's owner, was supposed to get the summons. But the animal control officer confused "Murphy" as the human in the situation and ended up sending the complaint to the dog.
Dean told the Boston Herald that he doesn't see how Murphy will be able to come up with the $50 fine.
According to the Associated Press, Magistrate Henry Schultz admitted, as far as he can remember, Murphy will be his first canine defendant.
