A farm dog in eastern China has been nursing three newborn tiger triplets along with her own pups after the tigers' mother rejected them shortly after they were born. The dog, a mixed breed named Huani, has nursed other tigers in the past.

Officials at Jinan Paomaling Wild Animal World in Shandong province said it is not uncommon for zoos to use dogs to nurse tigers who are rejected by their mothers.

Paomaling used to put dog urine on abandoned tiger cubs to trick female dogs into thinking they were nursing one of their own puppies. However, the zoo said Huani started nursing the cubs even though they had not bothered sprinkling them with dog urine.
