Local officials apprehended a man suspected of reckless driving by following a trail of the man's footprints made with dog poo.

According to the police report, authorities found a car crashed into the yard of local homeowner Bill McDonald. Investigating the scene, police found a trail of footprints that had been left when the escaped driver stepped in the excrement of most probably one of McDonald's four dogs.

Investigators followed the trail, and came across a white man driving in his direction. He ordered the van driver to step out of the vehicle, and spotted the smelly source of the tracks on the driver's shoe. UPI added that the officer also detected the smell of alcohol in the driver's breath.

The driver, 18-year old Josue Herrios-Coronilla, was slapped with charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as underage drinking. AP reported that he was later on released on a $1,500 bail.
