A golden retriever who has not given birth in 18 months, adopted a stray kitten and began producing milk for the gray kitty when she heard it weep. The kitten was found by her rescuer in an old tire near a concrete plant. But her rescuers became worried after the gray kitten refused to drink milk.

Two would-be burglars, who picked the Antioch Police Department K-9 team's training session building for robbery, are now behind the bars. In an attempt to steal copper wiring from the same building, 26-year-old James Ayers of Bethel Island and 38-year-old Frederick Guilliee of Antioch, California entered the 40,000-square-foot building at about 6 p. m. Tuesday, police said.

A Grand Haven surfer used his board to rescue a struggling dog that a big wave swept off a pier in Lake Michigan on Tuesday. The black-and-brown mixed breed pooch was walking with his owner without a leash when a big wave swept him off. A surfer, Matt Smolenski immediately jumped into the sea after him and got hold of his collar.

Just like their owners, thousands of dogs have their own profiles on a Facebook subsite called Dogbook. The site offers them a chance to expand their social network and make new friends.

For the fourth consecutive year, all the dogs in Ramapo, New York are invited to an exclusive pool party at Spook Rock Pool. The fourth annual Dog Days of Summer K-9 Pool Party will take place from noon to 3 p. m. on Sept. 9. The event helps to raise funds for animal care and education about dogs.
