n a country where most people live on just a dollar or less a day, an 11-year-old boy who gathers discarded plastic bottles for money returned the equivalent of over $400 USD that he found on the road. Gicoven Abarquez is penniless, malnourished and has never owned a pair of shoes. He works the streets of Dagupan City in northern Philippines to help his parents make ends meet. He is one of the thousands of Filipino boys, some barely in their teens, who go to school and also work collecting discarded plastic containers to sell back to recycling centers.

A man handed over a fake one million dollar bill at a supermarket in Pittsburgh Saturday and asked for change. BBC News was told by police at the scene that the unidentified man became abusive when a manager at the Giant Eagle supermarket confiscated the counterfeit note. He brandished a scanner gun and broke an electronic payment machine.

A man who used his computer to print fake $100 dollar bills to have lap dance services at a strip club in Tennessee was arrested and pleaded guilty to counterfeiting charges, authorities said. Suspicious strippers at Deja Vu in Nashville called police after Damon Armagost paid $600 in fake money for services on April 16, federal authorities said.

An 11-year-old Texas boy successfully led police to the arrest of a man suspected of large-scale theft. The little detective, identified only as Simeon, was waiting with younger siblings in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree store in Universal City when the incident tool place. The San Antonio Express-News reported that Simeon spotted a man getting into and out of a pickup, while smashing a window on a Nissan Xterra and stealing items from the car.

A 46-year-old man accused of robbing a store on Saturday apparently got thirsty and was hence arrested about 15 minutes later at a bar less than a mile away. The man, who is from New Holstein, is accused of robbing a Dollar General Store at knifepoint. He was taken into custody by police without incident at Kiel, in eastern Wisconsin, about 20 miles northwest of Sheboygan.
