In a yet another effort to upgrade the city's image before the 2008 Olympic Games, authorities in Beijing have barred women cabbies to not to dye their hair red and their male counterparts from growing their hair long. The bans on the city's taxi drivers are a part wider effort by the authorities who perceive the Olympic Games as an opportunity to display splendid Chinese culture and its residents' positive attitudes. In the recent effort, authorities have listed out as many as 12 not-to-do's for the city's cabbies. These include: greeting passengers without politeness, avoid smoking, spitting, wearing heavy and jewelry and brushing teeth after eating garlic among others.

A female passenger from Beverly Hills skipped out on a taxi fare of $8,200, prompting the driver to approach court. The meter in the taxi of Levon Mikayelyan hit the unbelievable fare after it was hired to drive 2,600 miles from Beverly Hills to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. However, the passenger's family paid him only a measly $800 when he reached their destination.

A 26-year-old Calgary woman was told to get off the bus for the smell of her perfume irritated the driver. Natalie Kuhn was on her way to work Thursday when the driver of the bus informed her he did not like her perfume and would be dislodged next time if he again got a whiff of it. But unwilling to give up her love for Givenchy's Very Irresistible, Natalie on Friday once again dabbed the perfume on and boarded the bus. An irritated driver got off the bus and refused to drive until Natalie was removed from the bus.

A 53-year-old man from Albuquerque, New Mexico, who was previously arrested on 27 counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, was yet again arrested Wednesday evening, marking his 28th such offense. Joseph Brill, who was on parole for two of the convictions, was driving on a withdrawn license when deputies saw him park in a driveway and fall out of his pickup truck Wednesday evening. According to a criminal report, Brill smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He also declined to be tested for breath analysis and was unable to perform a sobriety test.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested after she tried to bribe an officer in exchange for a warning for underage drinking. According to authorities, Amber Breanne Gordon used someone else's ID during an identification check at the Summit Restaurant and Bar in Iowa City early Monday morning and offered the officer in charge, at the time, $17 for letting her go with a warning. According to Police, when the officer replied "no," Gordon said she was "kind of joking," but could still pay if the officer was "down," according to Press-Citizen. com.
