A 42-year-old woman narrowly escaped her husband's wrath after he shot at her with . 22-calibre rifle when she failed to renew his driver's license. Gary Alan Hemsted, a truck driver, has now been sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting his wife, Lisa, in 2005. Hemsted pleaded no contest earlier this month to attempted voluntary manslaughter, using a firearm and causing great bodily injury in the wounding of his wife.

Drivers in Memphis, Tennessee were surprised to see a teenage girl on Sunday who held the following sign: "I don't obey my parents, I'm a liar. I steal from my mom. I have a bad attitude. " The 13-year-old girl Tashara Wilkins was punished by her mom Cherie Wilkins after she was fed up with the misbehavior of her daughter.

Professor Nilli Lavie of University College London said a test for a person's ability to become distracted can weed out those who are applying for high risk jobs like air traffic controller and bus drivers. Employers are now able to offer tests that are accurate and unable to be doctored. In fact, Lavie said many people think they've done very well on the test when if fact their attention was compromised.

A Janesville man was caught driving without a valid driver's license Saturday after his prosthetic leg slipped off, hitting the accelerator and causing the vehicle to run into a nearby liquor store. Martin E. Nehls, 49, was cited by police for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license. According to AP reports, Nehls was about to pull up his Chevy Silverado from the parking lot of liquor store when his fake leg slipped off jamming the gap between the brake pedal and the accelerator. The impact caused the truck to move forward and hit the building, police said.
