An intoxicated man called the police and asked them to arrest him for breaking into a football clubhouse and stealing some alcohol.
After trespassing into the Rossendale United FC Clubhouse, 21-year Old Liam Tomlinson apparently urged police to bring him in, only to be told that there were no available police cars to bring him in with.
Upset, Tomlinson broke into a Waterfoot business and caused Ł2,500 (about US$5,000) in damages, according to This Is Lancashire.
Tomlinson, who had a history of eight convictions for burglary, managed to rob one more place before he was brought to court.
A guilty plea for two counts of robbery was brought to the Burnley court, along with one count of burglary with intent to cause damage, and failing to surrender, reported the UPI.
Tomlinson was not sent to jail, and was instead given a suspended eight-months of jail time.
In defense of the authorities, Inspector Dave Hodson explained that the authorities immediately responded to the burglary, but Tomlinson had gone by the time the police got there, as the phone call was made two hours after.
