In a bizarre incident, a Russian drunk driver, who was stopped by police tried to swallow his keys then bit an officer as the official tried to retrieve them.

Citing regional traffic spokeswoman Anna Kutonova, RIA-Novosti revealed that the man's Russian-made Moskvich car was stopped overnight near Kemerovo, about 1,850 miles east of Moscow, admitted that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

As the police were busy filling out a citation for him and making plans to confiscate the car, he put his keys in his mouth and tried to swallow them, the agency said.

The man, identified only as a "Muscovite," bit another officer, who tried to save the man's life, after he swallowed the keys, RIA-Novosti said.

The man was later charged with failing to follow police orders.
