Going for the price of $1.55 million - a floating bed by a Dutch architect.

Inspired by the mysterious monolith in Stanley Kubrick's movie, "2001: A Space Odyssey," Janjaap Ruijssenaars took six years to develop the bed, which can also be used as a dining room table.

Ruijssenaars said, "No matter where you live all architecture is dictated by gravity. I wondered whether you could make an object, a building or a piece of furniture where this is not the case -- where another power actually dictates the image."

To help keep the bed off the floor, there are magnets built into the floor and the bottom of the bed. Thin steel cables keep the bed in place.

However, Ruijssenaars admitted that the bed will need cushions and bedclothes before use.

He also advised that people with piercings should not get between the bed and the floor because their piercings could be affected by the magnets.
