An 88-year-old farmer in a remote village in India, has become one of the oldest people to become a father when his third wife bore him a son.

Virmaram Jat said he has been praying for a son after having 16 daughters from his two previous wives.

The Sun said the mother of Virmaram son is Gammo Devi, who is 45 years her junioe. Virmaram lives with all of his three wives in remote mud hut in India where he tends to his cattle, goats and camels.

He told the Sun, "I am a farmer with simple needs. I have intercourse daily and the best time is between 2am and 4am.

"I will try to have more children. It is up to God whether he blesses me. I don't want to live for 100 years but my desire is that as long as I live, I enjoy my sexual life."

His 85-year-old first wife still lives with him and has helped the farmer in choosing the mother. She even assisted Gammo while giving birth, it was reported.

The farmer's 60-year-old nephew has promised to take care of the boy when he dies.

Les Colley of Australia was the world's oldest father. He was 92 when his youngest was born.
