A 17-year-old suspected robber learned some manners and to respect the elderly when his 85-year-old victim forced him, at gunpoint, to call the police and admit his wrongdoings.

Leda Smith from Springhill Township, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh, courageously walked past a 17-year-old burglar who forced his way inside her house Sunday afternoon. Smith entered her bedroom and grabbed a .22 caliber gun she kept under her bed.

With the gun in her hand, Smith pointed her weapon at the teenager, forced him to surrender and then dial 911 to alert the police.

Smith told authorities, "I said 'What are you doing in my house?' He just kept saying he didn't do it."

The woman said she decided several weeks ago to keep a gun in her house after a neighbor's home was burglarized.

Both Smith and the suspect waited for the police to arrive, with the teenager obediently following Smith's instructions not to move.

Surprisingly, the woman unshaken by the event and even described it as "exciting." She said she hopes her action put a dent into a burglary ring that had been victimizing the neighborhood.
