A man suspected of embezzling over $100,000 from his company attempted to elude police by posing as a monk.
Chen Boshi, suspected of embezzling $126,500 from his power company, took refuge in a monastery in the neighboring province of Hubei, Xinhua news agency said Monday.
Police began searching temples after a tip off that Boshi had become a pseudo monk.
While searching temples in the Henggang Mountain area, police "noticed a monk in his 40s wearing a cassock and glasses, walking away on a mountain with a string of beads in his hand."
An officer, pretending to be lost, approached the monk and asked for directions. The monk dashed off into the surrounding forest.
Sure enough, the monk turned out to be Boshi. He had eight credit cards on him when he was caught.
