Holland Expects 1 Millionth US Tourist In '06

Holland is experiencing an increase in incoming tourism from the US -- a market that decreased after 9/11. This year will be the first since before 2001 that the country will welcome it's one-millionth visitor from the US. Conrad van Tiggelen, Director, NBTC North America said, "Despite the exchange rate concerns, with the dollar in a renewed slide against the Euro, visitors from the USA are back to the levels of 2000. "

Euros Used As Confetti Angers French Town

Locals in a French town are angry over a wedding where the newly-weds scattered shredded euros during the ceremony. Residents in the town of Sete threw themselves on the ground to gather bits of 5, 10, 20 and 50 euro notes thrown as confetti at the July 8 wedding. Frederic, a resident, says to Liberation newspaper, "People chucking money away in the street for everyone to see, when there are so many struggling to get by!"

Bidding Skyrockets Over German Coach Klinsmann's Car

A 1967 Volkswagen Beetle formally owned by Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann is being auctioned on Ebay for $383,000 or 300,000 euros from $105,000. The 12,000 euro blue book value of the car apparently makes no difference to fans of the coach who took Germany to the semi-finals. Klinsmann drove the car in 1994 and 1995.
