Locals in a French town are angry over a wedding where the newly-weds scattered shredded euros during the ceremony.
Residents in the town of Sete threw themselves on the ground to gather bits of 5, 10, 20 and 50 euro notes thrown as confetti at the July 8 wedding.
Frederic, a resident, says to Liberation newspaper, "People chucking money away in the street for everyone to see, when there are so many struggling to get by!"
The lavish ceremony included a fireworks display that cost up to $51,000. The bride is the daughter of a local businessman who made his fortune in textiles. Local residents filed a complaint with police, saying destroying money is a crime in France. About 200 people attended the nuptials.
