In a bid to prove China's Pearl River is now clean enough for swimmers to dive in, Chinese officials mobilized 3500 swimmers who plunged into the river to confirm its cleanliness in a mass swim. Xinhua news agency quotes the local provincial governor confirmed the river was, "no longer thick and smelly. " The Pearl River flows through Guangzhou, the capital of China's industrial province of Guangdon.

In an attempt to lose 30 to 50 pounds, a Minnesota man is hoping that mowing lawns will help him with his goal. Darrell Nelson, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, believes that he could get a good workout by mowing lawns for other people after working up quite a sweat mowing his own lawn.

Literally turn your back on traditional running. Backward running is the way to move forward with experts saying it burns more calories, increases balance, hearing and peripheral vision. CNN reports that backward walking and running dates back to the 1970s, when runners practiced it while injured. Doctors later recommended it as part of physical therapy and it's often used by baseball pitchers or track runners in preliminary warm-ups.

According to country's main animal welfare body, Australia is leading in increasing number of obese pets. Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), says that the people show the love by overfeeding their pets thus posing them to increased risks of death.
