A British man is facing murder charges for stabbing his partner to death after he learned she changed her Facebook relationship status from "married" to "single."
The accused, Brian Lewis, 31, denied murdering Hayley Jones, 26, on March 12 during a jury trial at the Cardiff Crown Court.
Prosecutors accused Lewis of stabbing her with a kitchen knife at their home in Phillipstown, South Wales 10 days after she made the status change in Facebook.
The couple's four children found the body and Lewis surrendered to police later.
Lewis had told friends he could not stand to lose Hayley to another man before the killing happened.
Prosecutor Mark Evans told the court that Hayley's secretive use of the Internet and Facebook rankled Lewis, who was then jobless. Evans also said Lewis had threatened to kill her if she leaves him.
