Familiar faces on wedding banquets involving a Canadian groom and an Indian bride were the giveaway that aroused the suspicion of Canadian immigration officials that marriage for convenience syndicates were behind the move to fast track the acquisition of resident visas by Indian nationals. After their curiosity was challenged, visa officers compared files of wedding photos submitted as proof of a legitimate wedding, which led to the conclusion syndicates were behind the rent-a-guest modus operandi.

Air France is investigating a pilot who narrowly avoided a near miss at 33,000 feet after allegedly "showing off" his control of the aircraft to a boy in the cockpit. "The pilot made a sharp turn to the left, without warning, and then back again, obviously showing the French boy how he flew his plane," passenger Shaun Robinson told the Times of London. "I could see the boy. He shook hands with the pilot. He had a big smile on his face when he came out. Moments later the pilot threw his plane into a steep climb. "

The baby girl was born on Monday at a hospital in the suburbs of Delhi, India's capital. Both mother and child are healthy and doing fine, according to a doctor at the hospital.

PGA Tour golfer John Henry "Tripp" Isenhour III has apologized after he was charged on Wednesday with killing a hawk on purpose with a golf shot because it was making noise as he videotaped a TV show. The 39-year-old Georgia Tech graduate was charged with cruelty to animals and killing a migratory bird. He was at the Grand Cypress Golf Course on Dec. 12 to film "Shoot Like A Pro" when he became annoyed with the shrieking hawk.
