The blog that caught the attention of Silicon Valley CEOs is calling it quits. 'Fake Steve Jobs' is moving onto a new job and Hollywood.
The blog, "The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs" is shutting down after its author said he no longer wanted to make fun of the controversial CEO of Apple. Daniel Lyons, a former Fortune magazine editor, said he's heading to Newsweek and will be blogging under his own name.
Lyons, who spun-off the blog into a book and now a Hollywood screenplay, said he's pulling the plug after rumors circulated Jobs was in ill-health. Jobs told The New York Times his health was fine. After failed attempts at blogging as a fake Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang, Lyons opted to write under his own name.
About a year ago, trying to learn the identity of the 'Fake Steve Jobs' blogger became a sort of Silicon Alley parlor game. Eventually, The New York Times revealed the snarky blogger was Lyons, a Fortune magazine technology editor.
