Heavy wood panels fell inside a Boston restaurant Saturday night, injuring 11 diners.

Eight of the patrons were taken to the hospital, a Boston Fire Department spokesman said.

The decorative panels were 10 feet by 10 feet, spokesman Steve MacDonald told local ABC News affiliate, WCVB.

Firefighters initially thought some of the patrons were trapped underneath the debris and dispatched rescue teams. The injured complained of neck and shoulder pain.

The restaurant had only been open a few weeks, and city inspectors will investigate whether any codes were violated.

There were about 70 people inside the posh restaurant when the incident occurred, the Boston Herald reported.
