Rana Parker, who joined the force in July, was working as a diet coach at Head Start, the federal aid program for children. Now she will target recruits and help instill in them good eating habits and finding time for balanced meals.

A 6-foot-3, 265-pound man complained that an all-you-can-eat buffet overcharged him and an in-law, accusing the restaurant of discriminating them because of their size. Ricky Labit made the accusation against the Manchuria Restaurant located in Houma, at which he had been a regular for eight months. According to him, as he and his wife's cousin were about to eat their meal, a waitress then delivered a bill for $46. 40, which was double the usual charge for the adult buffet price.
