A 23-year-old man used a stun gun on his 18-month-old baby "multiple times" over three weeks, police said Monday. The man's wife, who police did not name, reported the abuse over the weekend.
Rian Whittman has been accused of assault and criminal mistreatment.
AP reports that Capt. Eric Carter said the 100,000-volt gun was a model that's applied directly to someone's skin. He said police were not aware of a motive for the abuse and did not know why it started about three weeks ago.
Police said the child was treated at a hospital and then taken into protective custody by the Oregon Department of Human Services.
