A proud father from West Midlands, England is expected to win over $ 750,000 for placing a series of bets on his son becoming a professional football player. His son, now 16, has been recently drafted in the West Brom soccer team.
According to The Sun, Garry Nicholls, 45, placed a $285 bet on his son becoming a football player some 10 years ago.
When his son enrolled in West Brom, he was drafted in its soccer team on a full scholarship and given a $171 weekly allowance over the next two years.
In one of the bets, Gary would win $95,000 if Ricky plays for the Championship side before turning 18. He would then secure another $190,000 if his son's team are back in the Premiership next season. But Ricky must play for the team.
To win $475,000 Ricky must be drafted for England before his 24th birthday.
Gary said, "I plan to give him all the money."
Rupert Adams, spokesman for bookies William Hill, said, "He looks to have a cracking chance."
