A bank robber in suburban Chicago is being called the "Harry Caray bandit. " Police in Palos Heights say the man who robbed a bank wore big glasses reminiscent of the ones worn by the iconic Chicago Cubs announcer.

FBI officials have arrested a man suspected of smuggling two Mexican migrants into the United States and selling them as part of a sex slave trade. Eliseo Escalante Santizo, 30, of Fort Myers, was taken into custody Monday at the Lee County Justice Center for a court hearing on unrelated charges of battery and resisting an officer with violence.

A Pennsylvania teenager is off the hook following a senior prank. A court found Matthew Pattison innocent on a charge of disorderly conduct. Last February when students at his school Oley Valley High were being evacuated, the young student donned a gorilla mask and climbed onto the roof of his school. During the evacuation hijinks, police, the FBI and a bomb squad all responded.

The latest FBI crime statistics released Monday show the nation's murder rate increased 2 percent during the first six months of 2005, while crime fell for other major crimes such as rape, arson and assault. The FBI says small towns with populations of less than 10,000 people had the highest increases in crime with 13 percent, according to the FBI's uniform crime reports. After a significant drop of 5. 7 percent in the murder rate last year, it went up 2. 1 percent between January and June.
