Two surfers were simultaneously bitten by sharks over the weekend in an area not far from where a father and son later that day survived more than 13 hours floating in the water until rescued - without being bitten. The shark bite victims were both sitting on surf boards in the water about 200 feet apart and were bitten on the foot in two separate incidents about a second apart, according to reports.

A Delta Air Lines flight headed from New York to Trinidad narrowly avoided a mid-air, head-on collision with a Russian-registered passenger jet near near Puerto Rico, a U. S. official said Friday. Peter Knudson of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) told AFP news that a Delta Boeing B737-800 and a Transaero Boeing B747-400, registered in Russia, were travelling toward one another on Thursday night at the exact same altitude of 10,058 meters (33,000 feet).

The bodies of more than a dozen hammerhead sharks were recovered from an illegal gill net in Kane'ohe Bay, a mating area for hammerheads near the Waikalua Fish Pond. All the sharks were pups and they were found by a Nature Conservancy team on patrol in the area on Thursday.

Two Bigfoot hunters from Georgia will unveil Friday a photograph and DNA from a carcass of the legendary creature they claim to have found in the woods of Georgia. In a press statement, police officer Matthew Whitton and former prison guard Rick Dyer said they will present the evidence at the Cabana Hotel-Palo Alto from noon to 1 p. m. They claim that Bay Area Bigfoot researcher Tom Biscardi has examined the carcass of the Bigfoot stored in a freezer.
