San Bernardino County sheriff's Deputy Ryan Ford says, Trevor Corneliusien, 26, tightly wrapped and locked a long, thick chain around his bare ankles Tuesday while camping in an abandoned mine shaft about 5 miles north of Baker, in order to draw a picture.

Drive-Thru Antics Lead to Lock-Up

Two women get their just desserts after stopping at a drive-thru for an apple pie. The manager of a McDonald's restaurant called police Tuesday after the women, whom employees say were acting strangely as they ordered the pies at a drive-through, struck the side of the building with their pickup. When officers arrived, they found Heather Amber Anderson, 24, inside the restaurant and behind the counter trying to open a cash register. Police tell the Associated Press that Anderson used to work for that McDonald's before being fired two weeks ago. Investigators said Anderson was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred. He charged her with public intoxication and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Outside, the driver of the pickup, 41-year-old Neeica Jean Mull, also appeared intoxicated and told police she had taken prescription medication. She was charged with driving under the influence.

Several Injured After Carnival Ride Malfunctions

An investigation has begun into how an 8-year-old fell from a carnival ride in Miami, leaving her in stable, but serious, condition. Local news reports 8-year-old Elianny Rodriguez was on the spinning ride Gee Wizz on Friday night, when she slipped from her seat, falling about 20 feet to the ground.
