Children Locked In Cages By Parents

Police in Northern Ohio rescue eight kids whose parents told authorities they kept them locked in cages for their own protection. Lt. Randy Sommers of the Huron County Sheriff's Office says the children, ranging from age 1 to 14, were found locked in cages at their home in Wakeman, about 40 miles southwest of Cleveland.

Scots Win Elephant Polo Tournament

Mounted atop huge elephants and wielding long mallets, the Chivas Regal Scotland team nabs its second King's Cup Elephant Polo title Sunday, after scoring a golden goal in overtime to beat Thailand's Mullis Capital, 6-5. About 1,500 people watched the fifth annual charity game, which raises money for Thailand's National Elephant Institute in Lampang. The tournament took place near Hua Hin, 80 miles southwest of Bangkok.

Owners are selling a slender house measuring just over five feet at its narrowest and nine feet, 11 inches at its widest for nearly a million dollars, according to local real estate agents. They're are asking $933,868 for the skinny home, which is spread over five levels. It used to be a hat shop before being converted into a residence, according to an Associated Press report.

Skinny Firefighter Saves Stuck Toddler

An unusually thin firefighter was able to put his stature to work when he wiggled his 6-foot-1, 160 pound frame into a narrow crevasse to rescue a toddler trapped nine feet underground. John Michael Butterfield, 16-months-old, was running at the Tamaques Park playground when he wondered into a nearby tennis court and fell into one of six holes dug by a contractor earlier that day to support new floodlights.

Man Pulls Apart Civil War Skeleton And Takes Photos

A Massachusetts man is charged with desecrating a Civil War-era tomb by pulling apart the skeleton and posing for pictures with the skull. Neil J. Goodwin Jr. , 19, of Salisbury, was working at the city's Old Hill Burying Ground on Aug. 17 as part of his court-ordered community service for a burglary conviction, when he desecrated the grave, according to The Associated Press.
