Residents of Pelham know to keep a look out for a cat who notoriously steals gardening gloves. The cat named Willy has collected about two dozen gloves since the beginning of springtime.
Willy's owners, Jennifer and Dan Pifer said the cat usually collects gloves on the weekends brings them home as if they were trophies. The couple now keeps a clothes line in their yard to string up the gloves so people can come by to reclaim them. They also hung up a sign reading, "Our cat is a glove snatcher. Please take these if yours."
Jennifer Pifer said, "This all started about the time people began working in their gardens, I guess March or April. Willy would just show up with a glove, or we'd see them on the front steps. I guess It's better than if he was bringing home dead birds."
Willy has collected five single gloves and nine pairs, which Jennifer said takes two trips to collect. She said he commits his crimes during the day when people are outside working.
