Filipino Fisherman Lost In Palau For Two Months Returns Home

July 24, 2007
A Filipino fisherman who was lost at sea for 10 days, lived alone in an uninhabited island for three days, lived with inhabitants of another island for a month before being brought to Koror in Palau, was finally repatriated to the Philippines after a two month absence. The Philippine News Agency reported that Jonathan Tawameo, from the southern city of General Santos, went to fish alone on May 17. He left aboard a smaller boat, and when he went back to join a fishing fleet, it had already left.

Sta. Ana Town In Northernmost Tip Of The Philippines, A Place Progress Has Forgotten

July 21, 2007
We arrived in the town of Sta. Ana in Cagayan Valley, the northernmost tip town in the Philippines at 3 a. m. in the morning. The first thing we noticed was the eerie sound of the place, or better yet, the lack of any sound of life. There were no lamp post and all we saw was darkness. The only light available was emanating from the vehicle we were using. We drove for another half an hour and still all we saw was darkness, we didn't see any houses or any other living soul. For someone who has lived in the city all his life, the environment in Sta. Ana was a strange one to me. I came from the capital where the city never sleeps and that has been the case even in some provinces I have visited, this is the only town I have been to where all I heard was the sound of silence even at that hour of the morning.

But when he reached into the water a one-eyed, 11-foot alligator latched onto his arm, and pulled him in.

Florida Golfer Attacked By One-Eyed Alligator

June 26, 2007
Bruce Burger, 50, probably missed the "Beware of Alligators" sign when he tried to fish out his golf ball from a pond on the sixth hole at the Lake Venice Golf Club. The Tennessee man's neglect might have cost him his arm as a 10-foot, 11-inch single-eyed alligator in the pond latched on to his right forearm Monday afternoon and tried to pull him in water.
