Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis announced a new system to help keep city police officers in shape and physically fit, saying the old requirements are not working. Weis, who said the current cash-incentive system is not working, announced a new plan which would focus on more "holistic" or "integral" approach to physical fitness, including healthier eating habits and sustainable workout programs.

An Oregon town mayor has been kicked out from her post after posing on a fire truck in her black bra and underwear. According to city officials, Mayor Carmen Kontur-Gronquist narrowly lost in Monday's recall election, 142-139, in a town with 500 registered voters. The recall is effective Tuesday.

A park in Manchester has opened up a playground designed strictly for pensioners. At a cost of $30,000, he Dam Head Residents' Association (DHRA) put up the Older People's Play Area in Blackley, equipped with facilities designed to strengthen hips, tone legs and train the upper body.

Aside from his extraordinary leadership skills which led to his being named "Person of the Year" by Time Magazine, Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon be recognized internationally for his athletic prowess. In particular his judo moves as he and an Olympic Japanese judo medalist will come out with an instructional video soon. Mr. Putin and Yasuhiro Yamashita shot the instructional video disc as a supplement to a judo manual. The disc is slated to be released on January or February, President Putin said Friday at the opening of a Toyota Motor Corporation's assembly plant near St. Petersburg.
