A five-year-old boy in Teighmouth, Devon in England, wanting a real-life "Thomas the Tank" adventure, took a 60-mile train ride to the shock of his parents.
It was reported that the boy, identified as Ben Ford, was walking down the road near his home in Teignmouth, Devon ahead of his parents, when he suddenly disappeared.
The Daily Mirror said the boy's parents identified as David and Sam, called the police to report their missing son. The police immediately launched a search for the boy and enlisted the help of the neighborhood.
Joanne Gartside, 37, a neighbor of the Fords said, "All hell broke loose round here. There were swarms of police officers and dogs and a helicopter."
Unknown to them, Ben boarded a train and got off at Taunton in Somerset, some 60 miles away from his home. Fortunately, he was spotted by two girls who were ina parked car, and they notified and alerted the police.
David told the Mirror, "Ben is mad about trains and Thomas the Tank Engine so he probably thought he was in the middle of some kind of Thomas adventure.
He continues, "It is still quite a long way to the station for a lad of his age and he had to cross major roads and go all the way to the bottom of town. Ben clearly wanted an adventure but he gave us all a huge fright. For those hours that he was missing I just thought 'if he is gone forever I don't want to exist any more'."
He was later reunited with his son at the St. David's station.
Police officer Austin Clarkson said, "The little boy was fine. He sat and watched the trains while we made inquiries."
