An entire family managed to escape the flames engulfing their Allendale home, thanks to the screaming of the family cat. Dianne Busscher was woken up at 4:45 a. m. by the cries of the black-and-white cat, Oreo, coming from the garage. Upon investigating, Busscher saw the smoke and flames, prompting her to grab the cat, rush back inside and wake up Warren, her husband, and their five children.

Boise firefighters returned to their firehouse after responding to a call, only to see it up in flames Christmas Eve. Investigations concluded that the fire was started by Tater Tots left frying on the stovetop. The potatoes were apparently frying on a pan that overheated, melting the pan and then setting some cabinets on fire, according to Assistant Fire Chief Dave Hanneman.

A woman managed to escape from a house fire in the nick of time, thanks to the warning from her dog. Cathy Minnig of Eagan, Minn. was exercising on the treadmill located at the basement of her home Wednesday, noticed her Labrador puppy, Riley, jumping up and down the couch, and acting in an unusual manner. Minnig, who was listening to her iPod during the time, took of her headphones to hear the sounds of fire alarms.

A house fire that resulted in $50,000 worth of damages was started by the family dog, said firefighters. A woman who was frying fish was reported to have gone to take out the garbage, when the dog shut the door behind her. The fish was still frying in the pan, and eventually resulted in shooting flames and heavy smoke.

A man was arrested for stealing a twin-engine plane, and speeding it along the taxiway, all in an effort to impress his lady friend. He was charged for his misdemeanors Friday. Police reports stated that back in September, 38-year old Michael Santos, a man who was drunk at the time, drove to the airport despite a lifetime ban from driving, stole a plane, and then taxied it, just to show his girlfriend that he could fly the plane.
